In the picture "chair" by Vincent Van Gogh, has painted a picture of a chair on a brick floor. But the floor looks more like an illusion, because it is slanted and it looks like it is part of the wall more then a floor. The chair I am guessing is supposed to be placed in the corner of this "room" that the picture is painted in. But the corner of the room seems to be a little off centered in the picture. It is kind of cool how if you look at part of the picture and see different views. Even the objects on the chair look like there part of the chair but they seem to just be placed on the chair. All the objects in the picture have dull and murky colors in it. Making it seem bland and plain.

Reflection on Studies in Smallness
I think that for this project I learned what was the highlights and the low lights of the fruits or the objects that I was creating on the paper. It was difficult to get the exact colors to match the actual object but I got pretty close to them. I think that my overall paintings that I accomplished were done pretty well and I do like the way they turned out in the end!

Using Composition As a Tool
In the painting Custard Cascade, by Will Cotton of 2001. He takes deserts and pastries scattered all over the painting. I liked this one because even though its foods it also looks like abstract objects. This painting takes the every day objects and puts them in a different type of form showing you that, normal every day objects can turn into artwork. I think this one is very interesting and different because it has all different textures on it.

Morandi vs. VanGogh
Vincent Van Gogh's paintings are colorful and have what seems like life in each part of the painting. The blues and browns and greens seem to stand out and catch your eye. It has my happy glow in each other the colors that are put on the paper.
Giorgio Morandi's paintings are shown as more calm colors and bland colors. The boxes and the vases in the picture don't so much stand out as much as Vincent's pictures do they seems to bend into each other showing a more dim and gloomy coloring.

What I know..
The Primary colors are...RED BLUE YELLOW
The Secondary colors are.. PURPLE ORANGE GREEN
You can create secondary colors by mixing certain primary colors together. Like blue and red making purple and red and yellow making orange. Some complimentary colors are yellow green, blue purple, and orange red. You can emphasize colors by making the darker or brighten depending on the ways you want to express it. If making shadows you would make a darker area around the place that is the shadow. To make and illusion you would take lighter colors and show the lighter areas of the picture. To make objects on your painting far away you could either make it smaller or the father away from everything else. First you would sketch out your idea on the canvas and figure out what you want to do. Getting your ideas out first and then working your way up by doing the lighter colors of the painting first of the darker colors. Then finally finishing with your final painting something beautiful!

A painting I remember
A painting that I remember is 10 mailboxes in a row, they are in all different colors and it looks like its a cloudy sky in the background. This painting is in my Cape house, in the TV room. ts my favorite because it looks like a early morning in the summer, just as the sun is rising.
My skills as an artist
My strengths in art are how I can paint and really know how to get my ideas out on paper. I have an easy time doing this because my thoughts are really shown through my art.
In art I struggle most with starting and when to finish, I can't just sit down and get started i have to actually think about what I want to go on the paper. When my final piece is done I never know if I should finish it up or just say it is done.

Why I'm taking oil painting
I signed up for this course because I have done oil painting in the past and I really enjoyed it. I want to get better with my painting on the canvases, and using the paints in a more detailed and complex way. I think that from taking this class I will become a better painter and will be more confident in my work.
